“HOMETOWN TOGETHER” SUPPORTS DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES

With the cancelation of this year’s Riley Festival, the Riley Festival Association will sponsor “Hometown Together”, an event to support local downtown merchants on October 3rd- 10th.

Shoppers can enter drawings for gift certificates by visiting 10 of 25 local participating businesses.  A playing card will be given when a purchase is made.  Cards will be used to form a hand of poker with cash prizes awarded to the three best.  The more purchases made, the more playing cards you receive to make a winning poker hand.

Bring your shopping sheet and playing cards to the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza on October 10th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm to enter the drawings.   Entertainment, fun things for kids, and a DJ will begin at 2:00 pm.  The Riley Festival Assoc. will also present Riley Educational Arts Partnership Grants for fine arts programs in Hancock County schools.  Drawings for the gift cards and the three best Poker Hands will be at 5:00 pm.

This week brings visitors downtown for other activities that are also part of the celebration of Mr. Riley’s birthday.   The JW Riley Boyhood Home and Museum will have a birthday party and poetry readings, starting at 11:00 am on the October 3rd.  Greenfield Main Street is hosting a Second Friday shopping event downtown on the 9th with vendors on the Plaza starting at 2 pm with several businesses open late.
